christi asked me about having twice as many bridesmaids as groomsmen.  i am shocked and appalled at the idea.  it is ridiculous to have twice as many girls standing up there as there are guys.  ridiculous!

visually it looks unbalanced and awful.  if christi really wants another couple of girls, i’m fine adding a few guys, but she thinks it’s silly to have that big of a wedding party.  i think it is equally ridiculous to have more girls than guys.

i am a pretty old fashioned guy.  i think that my notions of a wedding are very classically hollywood, though.  i have a friend who has a girl as a groomsman.  i just wouldn’t be able to do that.  it’s just WRONG!  yeah, i am old fashioned, but i can’t help it.

luckily, christi’s mom agrees with my sensibilities!

i think i mentioned in a previous post that mike is very traditional about wedding things. grooms should have male attendants. brides should have female attendants. there should be the same number of each. but why?

i have a couple of close guy friends who have stood by me through every important event in my life. why shouldn’t they stand by me on my wedding day? but fine. i can stick to female bridesmaids.

mike and i had loosely decided on 3-4 as the number of attendants we’d each have. at first i thought it would be fine, but really, there are 6 women who i’d love to have in my bridal party. (i know, you’re all thinking that i don’t even know 6 girls! believe me, it shocked me too.) but because we’re having such a small wedding, it would be ridiculous to have a bridal party of 12. but why can’t i have my 6 bridesmaids, and mike can have his 3 groomsmen. each of his guys can walk down the aisle with a girl on each arm! how great would that be?! mike absolutely refuses to consider the idea. i think we should put it up for a vote.

who thinks that it would be cool to have two girls for every guy? (except mike, of course. mike only gets one girl — me!)
