mike and i first starting talking about creating a food blog a few weeks ago. for me, i had envisioned it to be part food journal, part photo blog, part restaurant & froyo review. and for mike, it would be documented evidence of just how much pizza and other junk food that he eats =P
i wasn’t sure i’d be disciplined enough to carry a camera with me whenever/wherever i ate. i’m not. however, i’ve been trying really hard to photograph meals out at restaurants — the food i eat at home is not all that interesting anyway.
well, the food blog hasn’t launched yet because i’ve been on the road. mike and i just haven’t had time to design our new site, and i haven’t had time to process and upload all the photos i’ve taken. but just to give you a teaser of what’s to come, i’ve photographed meals in atlanta, chattanooga, las vegas, century city, torrance, diamond bar… none in san jose.
what am i doing in all these places? well, you read about the atlanta and chattanooga trip. later that week, we went to vegas for a vball tourney. it was good fun, despite the fact that we landed in B pool and went 1-7 on sunday. (and we only won that one because it was a meaningless game and our opponent was playing reverse!) i guess we were just too darn good on saturday =P and after returning home from vegas, i turned right back around and flew out to LA for work meetings! but still, how did i end up in diamond bar, of all places?
if you aren’t familiar with socal geography, diamond bar is about an hour inland from LA. what the heck is all the way there?! froyo! after getting out of a meeting in century city at 9pm last night, i headed out east to meet cindy for a tasty treat =) the decor of this place was unlike any froyo spot i’ve ever seen. imagine hubba bubba going buckwild at a teeny bopper club. as soon as i stepped foot inside this place, i knew i had to take some photos. but before i could get a shot off, the korean kids working the counter stopped me. no photographs. owner’s rules. really? what is this… a casino? a designer bridal showcase? does he think i’m going to go copy the over-the-top interior design of this place? while cindy was on lookout, i managed to get a shot of the circular brushed steel counter in the middle of the shop. i’ll post it when i get home.
